Bitter Gourd Seeds

Bitter gourd, also known as bitter melon or Momordica charantia, is a tropical vine that belongs to the gourd family. It is known for its bitter taste and is commonly used in various dishes in Asian cuisine. 

To germinate bitter gourd seeds, you can follow these steps:

1. Soak the seeds: Soak the seeds in water for 24 hours before planting. This will help to soften the seed coat and improve germination.

2. Choose a location: Bitter gourd plants require full sunlight, so choose a location that receives at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight per day.

3. Prepare the soil: Bitter gourd plants prefer well-drained soil that is rich in organic matter. Mix compost or well-rotted manure into the soil before planting.

4. Plant the seeds: Plant the soaked seeds about 1 inch deep in the soil. Space the seeds at least 3 feet apart to allow the plants to grow properly.

5. Water the soil: Water the soil thoroughly after planting to ensure that the seeds are well-moistened. Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged.

6. Provide support: Bitter gourd plants are vines that need support to grow. Provide a trellis, fence or other support structure for the plants to climb.

7. Care for the plants: Bitter gourd plants need regular watering and fertilization. Apply a balanced fertilizer every two weeks during the growing season. Prune the plants regularly to control their size and promote fruiting.

8. Harvest the fruit: Bitter gourd fruit is ready to harvest when it is fully grown and the skin has turned a deep green color. Cut the fruit from the vine using a sharp knife or scissors.
