Clematis (Clematis Tangutica Aztek) - Clematis seeds produce a lovely, wine-rich flower that is a long-lived perennial that usually lives for at least 25 years. The top of the Clematis plant will be exposed to maximum sunshine with the roots being either shaded by a ground cover or a mulch like bark dust.
Clematis Tangutica tolerates poor soil but requires irrigation well. Within 3-4 months of planting the flower seeds, this Clematis plant will flower and will produce significantly more blooms the second year it will. The yellow 3 inch blooms often produce feathery silver heads. This vine is perfect for trellises and arbors, and also performs well in annual containers. This plant at Clematis will be both summer as well as fall. It is sometimes called Golden Clematis.
It takes about 21-28 days for Clematis flower seed to germinate. You can either sow the flower seeds in indoor trays and transplant the seedlings after frost season, or sow the flower seeds directly outside after frost danger has passed. Refrigerate the seeds for 2-3 weeks before sowing Clematis seed. Many gardeners tend to start outdoor seed in the late fall, or in a cold frame in the winter.
