Japanese Plum Blossom is a kind of flower that has pink or white petals and a sweet smell. It is very popular in Japan and China, where people celebrate its blooming in spring.

Japanese Plum Blossom is not only pretty, but also useful. It can attract bees and butterflies that help pollinate other plants. And it can make your garden look like a fairy tale!

Germination Instructions

After receiving the seeds, put them in a plastic bag with some moist peat moss or vermiculite. Seal the bag and poke some holes in it for air.
Store the bag in the refrigerator for about three weeks. This is called stratification, and it helps the seeds to break dormancy and get ready to sprout.
Check the bag every week and make sure the peat moss or vermiculite is moist but not wet. If you see any mold or rot, throw away the affected seeds and clean the bag.

Moving Them to Small Pots

After three weeks, take out the seeds and plant them in small pots with potting soil. Make sure the pots have drainage holes at the bottom.

Water the pots well and place them in a warm and sunny spot indoors. You can use a heating mat or a lamp to keep them warm.

Wait for the seeds to sprout, which may take several weeks. Keep watering them regularly and watch them grow!

Seedlings have Sprouted!

When the seedlings have at least two pairs of leaves, you can transplant them to bigger pots or outside in your garden. Choose a spot that gets full sun and has well-drained soil.

Blooming Schedule

Japanese Plum Blossom usually blooms in late winter or early spring, depending on the weather and the place. They can bloom as early as January or as late as March. They are one of the first signs of spring and they make people happy and hopeful.

Blooming schedules can change every year because of the temperature and the rain.
