Strelitzia Reginae (Birds of Paradise) Flower Seeds

Strelitzia reginae, commonly known as the bird of paradise flower, is a tropical plant native to South Africa that can be grown indoors or outdoors in warm climates. It has banana-like leaves and colorful flowers that resemble the head of a bird. 

Germination Instructions:

1. Remove the orange tufts from the seeds and soak them in lukewarm water for 24 to 48 hours to soften the seed coat.
2. Nick the seeds with a knife or a small file to scarify them and increase the germination rate.
3. Fill a planting tray with moist potting soil and sow the seeds 1/2 to 1 inch deep and several inches apart.
4. Cover the tray with a pane of glass and place it in a warm location (over 80 degrees Fahrenheit) with indirect light.
5. Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged until the seeds germinate, which may take four to eight weeks.
6. Transplant the seedlings into individual pots when they have two or three leaves and grow them in bright light with regular watering and feeding.
