The Venus Flytrap is a carnivorous plant that is native to the subtropical wetlands of North and South Carolina in the United States.

The plant catches insects by using its leaves to form a trap. When an insect or spider crawls across one of the sensitive hairs on a leaf, the leaf rapidly folds shut, trapping the prey inside. The inside surface of these "jaws" contains small glands that secrete digestive juices; once trapped, prey cannot escape. The digestion process only takes a few days and then the trap reopens, ready for more prey.

Planting Instructions:

  1. Soak the seeds in water for 24 hours
  2. Place seeds in a pot with soil
  3. Cover with about 1 inch of soil
  4. Keep soil moist but not too wet
  5. Seeds should sprout in 2 weeks
